Debtonator
Changes made in the UK Consumer Credit Act have rendered a majority of loan and credit cards agreements unenforceable and hence they can be written off. Debtonator established in 2008, provides legal services which can help you if your debts qualify. There website is www.debtonator.co.uk.
Debtonator does not provide debt services such as debt management plans or individual voluntary arrangements, they provide purely legal services. Agreements can be unenforceable due to a number of clauses such as:
Incorrectly dated agreements
Agreements with unfair terms for the consumer
Agreements with incorrectly calculated APR
Agreements that fail to add payment protection insurance
The agreements can range from fixed sum loans to credit or store cards. Debtonator is capable of auditing the following agreements:
Credit Card Agreements
Unsecured Loans
Secured Loans
Payment Protection Insurance
Hire Purchase
Car Finance
White Goods Finance
Brown Goods Finance
Store Finance Cards
In order to determine if your debt qualifies you can take a quick test on the Debtonator's website that takes less than two minutes. Information you have to provide will include basic contact details and details of your various debts. After completing the form a representative will contact you within 24 hours.
Each agreement is individually reviewed and within minutes you can be informed as to which ones Debtonator can help you with. With your permission, they submit a claim for each agreement and a legal representative is assigned to your case to carry it forward while regularly updating you. Information regarding the agreement is requested from your creditors, sometimes for a small fee that cannot exceed 1 pounds per agreement.
Debtonators aims to provide benefits by:
Nullifying agreements and removing any outstanding balance
Recovering charges that have already been made
Recovering interest payments made on outstanding balance
Recovering payments already made
A nice aspect of Debtonator's service is that they will not charge anything unless they are able to get their clients a refund. A 39 pound registration fee is required to cover the initial audit and paperwork sent to your creditors.
If you are successful with your claim, Debtonator will retain 29% of all monies that are refunded. Customers can also opt for the fixed fee option in which the client will retain all monies refunded.
Debtonator's website has a very outdated look and feel. The pages are nearly completely text based and the lack of images is clearly felt. Navigation is very basic and there are no additional resources such as blogs or forums. While lacking in aesthetic value, the content on the website does a good job of getting information across. Information about the company's services and how it processes claims is clear and concise. An FAQ section explains other aspects such as fees and type of agreements they work with.
Before making any decision, each individual should talk to the company being considered to get a personal feel for their services. As each situation is unique, personal judgment is of utmost importance. This review is meant to be only used for informative purposes.
While not an option available to all, the individuals that do qualify can greatly benefit from Debonator's services. They provide an innovative way to help people reduce the level of their debt.
